We’ve done a lot of lecturing and workshops lately, and become more and more aware of the importance of having hands on tools to work with. So, for the subject of gamification, we’ve now developed a tool for that – it goes by the name “Gamification Implementation Chart”! This is version 1.0, and we’ll use it during a workshop on Stanford University on the 7th of November. Feel free to download and use it for your own projects!
We will be in San Francisco between the 1st and 8th of November, as part of the exhibition Innovative Sweden by the Swedsih Institute, showcasing 20 swedish innovations. We will exhibit WeProject, our gamified social media tool for organizational communication and education.
The exhibition takes place at Stanford University in Silicon Valley, and we will be in place during the opening on the 2nd. On November 7 we will do a workshop/speech on gamification as part of the program “The future of gamification and simulation”. If you happen to be in San Francisco those dates, and interested in attending the exhibition or workshop – or just meet up – contact us!
On the 2nd of November Bobbi will also attend the crowdsourcing conference CrowdConf, ping us if you’ll be there!

Between 22-25 February Ozma will move its office to the city library, Malmö Stadsbibliotek, together with the Granny’s Dancing on the Table team! Come see us there!
WeProject has been chosen by the Swedish Institute to be one out of 20 innovations to represent Sweden in a world wide exhibition starting in Silicon Vally this autumn. More details coming soon.
Urblove was featured in the Swedish TV show Sverige! (Sweden!) on the 10th of October.
Now we’re back from London, excited and overwhelmed by the fact that we won the Power to the Pixel Pitch with Granny’s Dancing on the Table – a dark coming of age transmedia fairytale, co-produced by Good, Tangram Film, MEDEA, Kore and Ozma Game Design.
Happy!
Ozma is part of the project team behind Granny’s dancing on the table – a concept for a transmedia game and feature film. Granny is the only Scandinavian project that’s been selected to be part in the pitching competition on the Power to the pixel conference in London 12-14 October. We are excited to go!

And about Granny:
A few weeks ago I went to a lecture with Jon Kolko – the latest entrepreneur in residence at Medea. He is associate creative director at Frog Design and director for the Austin Center for Design. He talked about the role of Design in society today. His view was that since there is lot of turbulence (financial crisis etc.) right now, there is also lot of opportunity to rethink things. What kind of objects and services we surround ourselves with, and what we want out of the life we live. He talked about the importance of having empathy with the people you design things for. Prototyping, testing and involving the users are important aspects of the design process. Social innovation are buzzwords in the design community right now. Personally I’m hoping it will stay that way.
Something that came to my mind during his talk was the “designer attitude” that he expressed. For the last couple of years there has been an ongoing discussion about the pros and cons of cross media (transmedia or what ever you like to call it) and the difficulty of making different media producers meet and create together. People from the film industry don’t talk to game producers and so on. I was invited to be part of a panel debate on this topic during Nordic Game Conference in late April. Everyone seems to think it’s difficult to think outside of his or her own medium of expertise.
For Bobbi and me this has always seemed a bit odd. Using and mixing different media has always come natural to us. But there are very few game companies like us out there. What I realized was that it’s our designer attitude that makes us different. We design experiences for people. We use ideas, methods and frameworks from games to do so. This might seem obvious but I never fully realized how being a designer makes you see the world a bit differently. Our focus is not a specific medium but how each medium make you feel, think and act. We can be storytellers too, but the tools we use are based on what kind of experience we like to give to people.
